Matthew Johnson-Roberson

Matt is the Co-Founder and CEO of Refraction AI. He has worked in robotics since the first DARPA grand challenge in 2004. He is also a Tenured Associate Professor of Robotics at the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He received a BS from Carnegie Mellon University and PhD from the University of Sydney. He has held prior postdoctoral appointments with the Centre for Autonomous Systems - CAS at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and the Australian Centre for Field Robotics.


Ram Vasudevan

Ram is the Co-Founder of Refraction AI. His career has focused on the development and application of novel data-driven optimization and systems theory to quantify and improve human and robot interaction with one another and the environment. He is also an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan with an appointment in the University of Michigan's Robotics Program. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, an MS degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering all from the University of California, Berkeley. He has held a prior postdoctoral appointment at MIT.
